Small Claims Court is used to
resolve minor disputes.The cases are
heard before Magistrate Elliott Resnick on Friday mornings.Monetary jurisdictional limit for claims is
$3,000.00.The party being sued, or the
defendant, must reside or have their place of business within the court’s
jurisdiction or the incident must have occurred within the court’s
jurisdiction.
Small claims forms are available at the clerk’s office during regular business
hours.Complete names of businesses or
individuals as well as addresses including zip code and phone number must be
furnished at the time of filing.
The filing fee for Small Claims complaints is $60.00 for
the first defendant and $10.00 for each additional defendant.
